Odal Sieg formed in 2003 around vocalist and guitarist Ulrik Lindh and bassist Rikard Ohlin. Their music mixed neo-folk with black metal, and they took a name that referenced ancient Germanic symbols. This led to accusations of far-right politics, which the band denied, saying they were more interested in Norse mythology.
They put out a debut album called 'Heralds of War' in 2006. Their second album gave them a title track, 'Un Buen Día Para Morir,' that became something of an underground anthem. The lineup shifted over time, Rikard Ohlin left in 2012, replaced by Karin Axelsson, while drummer Karl Erik Lindh stayed on.
They've played shows with bands like Korpiklaani and Mayhem, keeping to the metal circuit without much mainstream notice. The music itself is dark and atmospheric, built on that blend of folk melody and heavier guitar work.
