Odisseia em Construção formed in 1995 with Marco Túlio Costa on vocals and guitar, Mauricio Fleury on drums, Luiz Brasil on bass, and Sérgio Santos on guitar. They put out their self-titled debut that same year, followed by Sinais do Fogo in 1997. Their sound mixed rock with Brazilian folk and some experimental touches, which made them a bit hard to pin down for labels at the time.
In 2002, they released the song Eva, which became their most recognized track. The song's melody and lyrics about forbidden love connected with listeners, though its explicit sexual references got it censored on some radio stations. They followed it with albums like Mantra in 2005 and InContínuo in 2009.
The band's lineup has stayed mostly consistent, with Gabi Domingues joining on keyboards at some point. They've kept working with that blend of rock and Brazilian elements, and songs like Semelhantes show they haven't strayed far from what they started with.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
