A metalcore band that started in 2009 and kept evolving after its frontman left.
For the early years, 'My Understandings' still hits hard. Later, something like 'Purified' shows where they went.
They landed with a heavy, melodic punch on their 2011 album 'The Flood,' which had 'My Understandings' on it. That song got them noticed, and they've kept putting out records even as the lineup and sound changed. You can hear the shift from the raw early stuff like 'O.g. Loko' to the more polished later albums.
Austin Carlile and Phil Manansala started the band in Orange County in 2009. Carlile left in 2016 because of his health, and Aaron Pauley stepped in as singer. They've released albums steadily since, including 'Cold World,' 'Earthandsky,' and 'Echo.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
