Background notes

Archive material and source history

Ogenki formed in 2015 around guitarist Izumi Miyake and drummer Riku Takumi. Their debut single "Takeout" got some attention with its straightforward pop sound. They've put out a few albums since then, including "Ameagari" and "Sakurairo," and their more recent work like "Kaiho" has moved toward electronic production.

In 2018, bassist Rieko Asano left the group, and Haruka Yamada joined on bass and vocals. A couple years later, Miyake made some comments in an interview that caused a public reaction, which the band addressed with an apology.
