Oh No! Yoko formed in Montreal around 2005, with Nicolas Basque and Kathleen Scheuermann starting as childhood friends. They were later joined by drummer Nicolas Dufour and bassist Mathieu Bérubé. Their first album, "Mimi Ashi," came out in 2007.
Their music mixed punk energy with elements of Japanese folk, using angular guitars and Scheuermann's vocals that sometimes drew from traditional Japanese singing. They followed "Mimi Ashi" with albums like "I Remembered But Then I Forgot Again" in 2013 and "Transmission" in 2014.
In 2019 they released "Death or Glory," and in 2021 put out "The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
