Archive material and source history
Ohrbooten formed in Berlin in the early 2000s around Robert Gwisdek, Christoph Stoll, and Jochen Arndt. They started with a shared interest in experimental music and performance art, drawing from absurdist humor and cabaret theater. Their first album came out in 2003.
Their sound mixed folk, rock, punk, and classical elements with toy instruments and found objects. Gwisdek's theatrical vocals became a recognizable part of their recordings. In 2005, they released "10 Kleine Menschlein," a playful adaptation of a children's rhyme that became widely popular at festivals.
Other songs like "Autobahn" and "An Alle Ladies" show their range. They've released albums including Wir Sind Ohrbooten (2005), Himmelgrau (2009), and Lust Am Leben (2014). The band's lineup grew to include drummer Dirk Bausch.
