Old Dog was a Mexican band led by vocalist and guitarist Mauricio Garza. Their sound mixed rock and blues with traditional Mexican rhythms, though they had trouble finding an audience at first because it didn't fit neatly into existing categories. They eventually built a following through their live shows.
Their 1996 album "Duelo" gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming a hit. The song's melody and lyrics about love and loss connected with listeners. Other songs like "Pé Na Estrada" and "Velho Whiskey" show their range across different tempos and moods.
The band's lineup included Claudio Yarto on guitar, Jose Garza on bass, and Salvador Garza on drums. They released several albums including "Viejo Perro" in 1994, "Historias de Perros" in 1999, and "Sentimientos" in 2003.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
