Old Lamp formed in London during the late 1970s, with Ethan Blackwood on vocals, James Harper on guitar, Emily Thornhill on bass, and William Hastings on drums. Their debut album 'Shadows in the Night' came out in 1982, followed by 'Echoes of the Past' in 1984 and 'Whispers of the Wind' in 1987.
In 1985, they released 'Music Is My Life,' which became their most recognizable song. Other tracks like 'Lame Ass,' 'Back To Dust,' and 'Got My Life Back' also appeared in their catalog during this period.
Emily Thornhill died in a car accident in 1990. Sarah Blackwood joined on bass in 1992, and the band put out 'Redemption' that same year. They've continued recording since, with albums like 'The Eternal Light' in 2001 and 'Rebirth' in 2010.
