Olga Guillot was a Cuban singer who became known as "La Reina del Bolero" in the mid-20th century. She was born in Santiago de Cuba in 1922 and began performing publicly in the 1940s. Her career took off in the 1950s with the release of her album "Olga Guillot en el Teatro Blanquita."
Her most famous song, "La Maleta," came out in 1956. It's a bolero about a woman packing her suitcase to leave a painful love. Another well-known track is "Doña Tristeza." These songs helped establish her reputation for emotionally charged performances.
Guillot left Cuba in 1961 after opposing the Cuban Revolution and settled in Mexico, where she continued performing. She recorded extensively throughout her career, with a discography that includes over 50 albums.
