Olimack formed in Puerto Rico in the early 1990s, playing a mix of salsa, merengue, and romantic ballads. Their 1995 single "Contigo" became a hit across Latin America, helping establish their presence. The band's lineup included Omar Abreu on lead vocals, Lizandro Rivera on keyboards, Luis Morales on guitar, Juan Luis Guzman on bass, and percussionists Jose Antonio Ramirez and Carlos Aviles.
In 2000, the band's management sued Abreu for performing with another group while under contract. The legal dispute lasted several years before settling, with Abreu retaining rights to use the Olimack name. During this period, they released albums like "Por Amor a Ti" in 1998 and "Olimack 2000" in 2000.
Later recordings like 2003's "Evolucion" showed the band incorporating more contemporary elements while keeping their romantic foundation. Another track, "Dilame," appears among their notable songs.
