Omar Courtz came out of Puerto Rico in the early 2000s, originally as a project between Omar Cruz and his cousin. They worked with reggaeton, which was the local sound, but put their own spin on it. Their debut album 'En Su Nota' arrived in 2006, and the remix of that title track, featuring Brray and Omy De Oro, got some real play.
They kept putting out albums over the next decade or so, like 'Pa'l Mundo' in 2009 and 'La Nueva Era' in 2015. The lineup expanded to include producers DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz, and vocalist Kevvo.
There were some legal issues and public controversies along the way, which became part of the story. Through it, they kept making music, with songs like 'Me Juquié' showing up in their catalog. They became a familiar name in the genre, for better or worse.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
