OMC was a New Zealand duo of Pauly Fuemana and Alan Jansson who had one massive international hit in 1996 with "How Bizarre." The song topped charts in over twenty countries, and its blend of hip-hop, rock, and pop elements gave it a distinctive sound that was hard to categorize. Their debut album, also called 'How Bizarre,' included other tracks like "Right On" and "Land Of Plenty," but nothing ever matched the success of that title track.
Pauly Fuemana had been part of the hip-hop group The Deceptikonz before teaming up with guitarist and producer Alan Jansson. They signed with PolyGram Records in 1995. While "How Bizarre" became an anthem of sorts, some critics dismissed it as a novelty song, and Fuemana faced well-documented personal struggles in later years.
Fuemana died in 2007 at age 40. Alan Jansson has occasionally performed under the OMC name since, but the group's output has been minimal. For most listeners, OMC remains that one-hit wonder from the mid-90s with a strangely catchy song about a car ride that went global.
