One True Reason formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1999, taking their name from a line in the film 'Pulp Fiction.' The original lineup included John Paul Vaden on vocals and guitar, Adam Hopkins on bass, and Scott Hoffman on drums.
Their debut album 'All the Right Reasons' came out in 2004 and included the song 'Maddog,' which got regular radio play. They followed it with albums like 'Awakening' in 2006 and 'Gravity' in 2008.
Vaden dealt with addiction and mental health issues that led to a break in 2009. After rehab, the band continued working. In 2012, their song 'I Hate Everything About You' drew criticism for its lyrics, and Vaden apologized for any harm caused.
Other songs in their catalog include 'No Game,' 'Reprisal,' and 'The Displaced.'
