ONIX46 formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1996 with four members: vocalist and guitarist Alexandre Almeida, guitarist Marcelo Severo, bassist Juan Porto, and drummer Rodrigo Almeida. They put out their first album 'Abismo' in 1998, followed by others like 'Adoração' in 2001 and 'Oniria' in 2009.
Their song 'Abrir os Olhos' became one of their better-known tracks, along with others like 'Coragem' and 'Contra a Corrente'. The band's lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too pessimistic or politically charged, though they defended them as just reflecting life as they saw it.
They went through some financial trouble and a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, but kept playing and recording afterward. Their music stayed in that rock vein with hard riffs and melodic passages, mostly for listeners in Brazil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
