Onze formed in São Paulo in 1999 with Marcelo Camelo on vocals and guitar, Mallu Magalhães on vocals and guitar, Fred Ferreira on bass, and Simone Guimarães on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2001, mixing folk, rock, and bossa nova. The song 'Ausência' appeared in 2004 and became their most recognizable track.
Camelo left the band in 2005, and the remaining three members continued as a trio. They put out 'Músicas Para Churrasco' in 2007. In 2008, Onze faced a copyright dispute over 'Ausência,' accused of borrowing its melody from another musician. They released a compilation called 'Discografia' in 2011 that included a new recording of that song.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
