OPALA formed in 1971 in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, with Márcio Borges on vocals, Tavinho Moura on bass, Beto Guedes on guitar, Lelo Zanetti on keyboards, and Neves on drums. Their sound mixed rock and folk with Brazilian rhythms, which didn't find an easy fit at first.
Their song 'Maracajaiaçu' became something of an anthem, a piece about longing that stuck with listeners. They also recorded 'Sintonia' and worked with Milton Nascimento on the track 'O Grande Encontro' for their 1973 album of the same name.
They kept writing what they wanted to write anyway.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
