Archive material and source history
Opatov formed in Nashville in the late 2000s around singer and songwriter Taylor Brashears, with Andrew Grimm on guitar, Joel Murray on drums, and Alex Lacquement on bass. Their debut album 'Southern Comfort' came out in 2012, and its title track became a sleeper hit that brought them some attention.
They put out five albums between 2012 and 2020, including 'Crimson Sky' in 2014 and 'City Lights' in 2016. The band had a public dispute with their manager in 2015 that led to a brief break, but they returned with 'City Lights' later that year.
Over time, Opatov added other musicians like Jake Johnson on keys and Emily Scott on backing vocals, though Brashears, Grimm, Murray, and Lacquement remained the core.
