OPeruano formed in São Paulo when three friends, Guto Garcia, André Carvalho, and Otávio Henrique, started playing together. They later expanded to include Danilo Moraes on drums, Gabriel Bichara on saxophone, and Thiago Kat on trumpet. Their first album came out in 2016, followed by another in 2018.
Their track 'Vibe Boa' caught on and became something of an anthem for them. They've worked with artists like Seu Jorge, Marcelo D2, and Céu, and their music has appeared in some films and TV shows.
Some listeners questioned their approach early on, feeling they mixed Brazilian styles with outside influences in ways that didn't always sit right with traditionalists. But they kept at it, drawing from samba, bossa nova, and funk while building their own sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
