ORIgame ZL formed in 2013 with rapper Rashid, producer DJ Marco, and multi-instrumentalist Rafinha. They came together in Salvador, Bahia, and put out their debut album 'Orixas' in 2017. The track 'Baseado (part. Meezy / Nonne Cruz)' from that album got some attention.
Other tracks like 'Profissão Perigo' show their interest in social themes.
While they've kept the same lineup since starting, their lyrics have sometimes drawn criticism for addressing sensitive topics. They've continued making music that reflects their background without smoothing over the rougher edges.
