Origi

Origi came up through the underground hip-hop scene in Brazil, with MC Cabelinho leading the group. Their track 'Muita Treta' became something of an anthem in certain circles, pulling from the raw energy of their live shows in local clubs.

Their debut album 'Alma de Favela' featured that song and found an audience despite, or perhaps because of, its unfiltered approach. The lyrics sometimes drew criticism for their explicit content, but the group maintained they were reflecting the realities around them.

Later records like 'No Meu Lugar' and 'Origi 2' continued in that vein, with other members like MC Sapão and MC Paiva contributing to the sound. The music never really crossed over to the mainstream, but it didn't need to, it worked on its own terms.
