Archive material and source history
Orkestra Maknamara formed in Goiânia, Brazil, with Maknamara on lead vocals and guitar. The group included Kiko Dinucci on guitar and vocals, Felipe Cazaux on bass, Gustavo Katz on drums, and Pedro Zopelar on keyboards. Their music pulled from samba and reggae, but also touched on jazz, rap, and classical elements.
Their debut album came out in 2007, titled 'No Fundo do Coração.' The title track featured Jennifer Souza and Daniel Grajew. They followed it with 'República da Utopia' in 2010 and 'O Mundo É Nosso' in 2016.
Some early critics found their sound hard to categorize and questioned their political lyrics. The band kept writing about social justice and environmental themes anyway.
