Orquesta Mira Quien Baila formed in Cali, Colombia in 1990, with Jairo Varela directing and singing. Their 1993 track 'Blame In The Boogie' became a staple in salsa dance halls, and they also recorded versions of songs like 'Contigo en la Distancia' and 'Copacabana'.

A fire in 1992 destroyed much of their equipment and sheet music, but they rebuilt and kept playing. Their lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which drew some criticism in Colombia.

They released several albums through the 1990s, including 'Los Hijos de la Salsa' in 1991 and 'La Salsa Sigue Caliente' in 1995. The band's lineup included William Varela on bass, Humberto Castro on vocals, Nedio Franco on piano, and Edgar Espinoza on trombone.
