Orquestra de Ilusões

Orquestra de Ilusões formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s, led by vocalist and composer Nando Reis. Their music mixed samba with rock and pop elements, and they developed a following in Brazil. The band released albums including their self-titled debut in 2004, followed by 'Sei Que Você Vai Voltar' in 2006 and 'Para Onde Você Vai' in 2009.

In 2012 they put out 'Ao Dono da Festa', which included the title track along with songs like 'Aquela' and 'Frases Soltas'. Nando Reis's lyrics sometimes drew criticism for their political content, but the band maintained a steady output, releasing 'Dia dos Namorados' in 2015. Other musicians who played with the group included percussionist Pedro Luís, vocalist Diogo Nogueira, and multi-instrumentalist Lan Lanh.

Their recordings feature straightforward samba rhythms alongside rock guitar and pop arrangements. Songs like 'Meu Bem' and 'O Tempo Parou' show their blend of traditional Brazilian styles with contemporary production. The music avoids grand statements in favor of direct, melodic writing that connects with listeners familiar with Rio's street sounds.
