Os Barcos formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, with Leonardo Netto on vocals and guitar. The band included Pedro Sá on guitar, Fábio Sá on bass, Rodrigo Campello on drums, and Xande Tamietti handling keyboards and accordion.
Their 2001 album 'Metamorfose' brought them wider attention, particularly the title track 'Metamorfose (a moça que passa).' The song became something of a standard, with its blend of samba and bossa nova elements. Other tracks like 'Adeus, Até' and 'Cinema Em Preto e Branco' showed their range within that Brazilian pop framework.
After some lineup changes around 2006, Netto kept the band going with new musicians. They released 'Acústico' in 2008 and 'Antes' in 2013, working with rock and funk textures while keeping the lyrical focus that had always been there.
