Os Grileiros formed in 1983 in the Liberdade neighborhood of Salvador, Bahia. Their early lineup included Carlinhos Brown on vocals and percussion, Neguinho do Samba on vocals, Ramiro Musotto on guitar, DaLua on bass, and Manno Góes on percussion. They developed a sound that mixed samba with reggae elements.
They released their self-titled debut album in 1987, followed by records like 'Reggae Tropicália' in 1990 and 'Pombo Correio' in 1993.
Other songs like 'Ao Entardecer' and 'Mais Um Dia' became part of their repertoire. They toured Brazil and internationally, and worked with artists including Gilberto Gil and Marisa Monte. Their music continued to reflect their Bahian roots while engaging with contemporary themes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
