Os Gringo started in Porto Alegre in 1994. Their song 'Anti-Romance' got them noticed beyond the local scene. The band's lineup has stayed the same: Beto Bruno on vocals, Cristiano Locks on guitar, Rafael Schlichting on bass, and Marcelo Gross on drums.
They put out their first album in 1996 and followed it with 'Anti-Romance' in 1998. Later records like 'Na Mão Inversa' and 'Coração Clandestino' kept them going through the 2000s. Another track, 'Bomdesoca', is also among their better-known songs.
Some of their lyrics drew criticism early on for being too blunt or dark. They didn't really back down from that, but it's just part of how their music sounded, straightforward rock with a rough edge.
