A Brazilian band that built atmospheric soundscapes from rock, jazz, and MPB starting in the late 1990s.
For their atmospheric side, 'Anjos' is the obvious touchstone. For something with more movement, try 'Então Vai' or 'Promessas' from their catalog.
Their 1999 album 'Psicoacústica' was initially criticized for being too psychedelic, but that layered approach became their signature. The ballad 'Anjos' from 2002 became their most recognized song, with its ethereal harmonies and introspective lyrics. They kept developing that atmospheric sound through albums like 'Delírios' and 'Arcanos' in the following decades.
Formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s with founding members André Abujamra, Marina Lima, and Lulu Santos. The lineup expanded over time with Wilson Simoninha joining in 2005 and Pedro Baby in 2009, while they continued recording through the 2000s and 2010s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
