Os Inversores

Os Inversores formed in São Paulo in 1968, a time when bossa nova and samba dominated Brazilian music. They were a group of young musicians who wanted something different, and their self-titled debut album in 1969 showed it. The record mixed psychedelic rock with blues and folk, a sound that felt new for Brazil.

Their second album, 'Inversões,' came out in 1970 and included 'Ébano e Mármore,' a song that became their most recognizable track. The band kept experimenting, and by 1971's 'O Som dos Ventos,' they were working with electronic sounds and longer improvisations. Other songs like 'Na Ilha Bonita' and 'Pra meu amor' show the range of their writing.

Their lyrics often used surreal imagery, and during a period of political tension in Brazil, that approach drew some criticism and censorship. The band's psychedelic style is sometimes mentioned as an influence on the later Tropicália movement, which blended traditional Brazilian music with rock and avant-garde ideas.
