Os Mateadores formed in 1987 when brothers Leonardo and Eduardo Borges teamed up with their childhood friend Jean Kirchoff. They came from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and played Sertanejo music. Their first album, 'Depois da Lida,' came out in 1994 and gave them a national hit with the title track.
They kept recording through the 1990s and 2000s, putting out albums like 'Chamarada' in 1996 and 'A Volta dos Mateadores' in 2000. Some of their songs include 'Vaneira da Restinga' and 'Repartindo a Tarecama.' They won a Prêmio Sharp de Música Brasileira in 2000.
In 2011, they faced plagiarism accusations over the song 'Imagem de um Anjo,' which they later cleared. They continued releasing music into the 2010s with albums like 'Identidade' in 2016 and 'Raízes' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
