Os Nordestinos do Ritmo formed in the late 1960s in Campina Grande, Paraíba, a group of musicians who took their name from the region they came from. They played forró, the traditional music of northeastern Brazil, and their early years were reportedly difficult as they tried to establish themselves.
In 1974, they released their debut album 'Meu Coração É Seu,' and the title track became a hit. That success was followed by songs like 'Paixão Errante,' which became one of their most recognizable recordings. Other songs from their catalog include 'Minha Flor' and 'Brigas de Amor.'
Their lyrics sometimes touched on themes that drew criticism from more conservative listeners, but they continued working. The original lineup included Zé Calixto on vocals and accordion, Chico Limeira on vocals and zabumba, and Fernando Diniz on vocals and triangle, among others. The group's membership changed over time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
