Os Novinhos formed in 2003 around MC Quinho and DJs Paulinho and Batata. Their debut album "Chama As Malandras" came out that same year and caught on quickly, with songs like "Arrependimento" and "Descendo" becoming staples in the Brazilian funk scene.
The band's lyrics and performances drew regular criticism from authorities and conservative groups. Even so, they kept releasing albums through the 2000s, including "Quem É Que É" in 2004 and "Festa Na Favela" in 2005.
Os Novinhos disbanded in 2012. Their music, particularly tracks like "A Filha da Lúcia Trabalha de Graça" and "Faz O Movimento," remains part of the conversation around Brazilian funk's more provocative edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
