Os Paquitos

Os Paquitos formed in Porto in 2002, with Ricardo Azevedo, Tiago Novo, and Ricardo Oliveira at the core. They put out their self-titled debut album, which established their approach of mixing pop melodies with lyrics that sometimes touched on social issues. Their song 'A Nova Onda' became a notable track for them, giving a name to one of their later albums.

Their music pulled from different places, including Portuguese folk and electronic rhythms, but they kept it accessible. Songs like 'Triste e Alegre' and 'Fico Triste Sem Você' show their knack for straightforward, melodic pop that could still carry a bit of weight in the writing. They weren't afraid to let a song be simple and catchy.

The band's lineup included Dino Santiago on vocals for a time before he moved on. They released several albums, including 'O Mundo Não É Para Todos,' but they never seemed interested in becoming a mainstream institution. Their sound stayed grounded in the trio's collaboration, with Azevedo handling vocals and guitar, Novo on bass and keys, and Oliveira on drums.
