Os Pinguins do Deserto formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s with João Pedro Longo on vocals, Fernando Dotti and Rafael Kury on guitars, Gui Teixeira on bass, and André Limberti on drums. Their debut album 'Só por Hoje' came out in 2004, and its single 'A Emoção Que Vai Rolar...' became a hit. They followed it with albums like 'As Vezes Sou Feliz', 'Pra Quem Sabe Ouvir', and 'Fenda'.
Their songs sometimes drew criticism for their lyrics, with some accusing them of promoting questionable themes. There was also a plagiarism accusation in 2007 over the melody of 'Eu Amo Você', which the band denied. Despite these issues, they kept making music and playing to large crowds in Brazil and elsewhere.
Their catalog includes tracks like 'Duas Rodas', 'Ondas de Concreto', and 'Eu Quero Gol!!!', which show their mix of rock, pop, and alternative sounds. They didn't stick to one style, moving through different approaches across their work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
