Os Pipocas

Os Pipocas formed in Lisbon around the early 2000s, with António Manuel Vilarinho and Luís Filipe Costa at the center. They started by putting out their own debut album, 'Deixa o Mundo Girar,' after some initial resistance from labels. Their sound mixed Portuguese rhythms with pop and other influences, which eventually caught on.

Their second album, named after the song '...N|em que for (encochado em ti),' brought them wider attention in Portugal. That track became a radio staple, along with others like '6ª à Noite' and 'Chuva de Verão Também Deixa Gripado.' The group's lineup expanded at times to include musicians like Sofia Ribeiro on backing vocals and João Alves on bass.

Later albums such as 'Quem É Que Sabe?' and 'A Gente Vai Dançar' showed them working with different collaborators and touching on funk and electronic elements. They kept recording through the 2010s, with songs like 'Metrossexual' and 'Não fique sem falar' appearing in their catalog.
