Archive material and source history

Os Platões formed in São Paulo in 1978 with five members: Zé Geraldo, Mauro Senise, Tavinho Paes, Zé Miguel Wisnik, and Chico Chagas. Their music drew from Brazilian folk, jazz, and classical influences, creating a sound that didn't quite fit the commercial trends of the time. They released four studio albums between 1982 and 1993, starting with their self-titled debut and including 'Prefácio' in 1984.

Despite this, they kept working and recorded songs like 'Alguém' and 'Amanhã' that became staples of their catalog. The band's lineup changed over time, with Carlos Ezequiel and Sérgio Kaffa joining at different points.

Os Platões collaborated with artists including Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque, and João Bosco. Their music, particularly tracks like 'Inverno' and 'Tão Bem', found an audience in Brazil even if they never broke through internationally. They stopped releasing new albums after 1993, but their recordings continue to be heard by listeners who appreciate their particular blend of styles and lyrical approach.
