Os Quéops formed as a trio in São Paulo during the mid-1970s, with Sérgio Magrão, Cláudio Nucci, and Chico Neves. They worked in a folk rock style that drew from various Brazilian and Latin rhythms. Their song 'Café de Chaleira' became particularly well-known, capturing something of everyday life in its lyrics.
They kept playing for smaller, sympathetic audiences during that period.
They released several albums through the late 1970s and early 1980s, including their self-titled debut in 1976 and 'Admirável Mundo Novo' in 1983. Another song, 'Não Faça Isso Comigo', also remains part of their catalog. The trio's straightforward vocal harmonies and acoustic arrangements gave their recordings a particular sound that listeners still recognize.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
