Os Três MSC

Os Três MSC are a Brazilian funk trio from Rio de Janeiro, originally made up of MC Rick, MC Menor do Chapa, and MC Dede. They came up through the local party scene in the city's favelas, and their music caught the ear of producer Kondzilla, who signed them to his label in 2016.

Their breakout track was 'Cancelado,' which became a viral hit that year. The song's straightforward lyrics about everyday struggles connected with listeners across Brazil. Other songs like 'Escolho A Cruz' and 'Meu Lugar' followed a similar pattern, built on simple, catchy beats and direct storytelling.

Some critics took issue with their lyrics, saying they glamorized difficult aspects of favela life. The group was also linked to the 'funk ostentação' style, which drew its own criticism for focusing on displays of wealth. They kept making music that reflected their own surroundings, releasing tracks like 'Dois' and 'Hosana' over the next few years.
