Os Últimos formed in Brazil in the early 2000s, when mainstream music there was mostly traditional pop and sertanejo. Their sound had a raw, post-punk feel at first, with lyrics that touched on social inequality and personal struggles. They released their self-titled debut album in 2004.
Over the next fifteen years, they put out four more studio albums, including 'Estranho no Ninho' in 2007 and 'Horizonte Zero' in 2019. Their music shifted over time, taking on more melodic and experimental textures while keeping its alternative rock foundation. Songs like 'Tocar o Chão' and 'Algo Em Comum' show that evolution.
The band's lineup included Paulo Novaes on vocals and guitar, Fabio Satoro on drums, Gustavo Faria on bass, and Thiago 'Xuxa' Pinheiro on guitar. Their straightforward approach to difficult topics in their lyrics drew both criticism and praise, but they kept writing and recording through it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
