Os Últimos Escolhidos do Futebol formed in São Paulo in 2006, with Henrique Alves, Vinícius Amazonas, and Thiago Pethil coming together around a mix of punk, hardcore, and Brazilian popular music. Their debut album was called 'A Canção dos Escolhidos.'
Their second album, 'Berrini,' gave them their breakthrough. The title track became something of an anthem, named after a major São Paulo avenue and speaking to feelings of alienation in the city. Other songs like 'Bom Bom' and 'Hoje Não' also became part of their set.
Their lyrics often dealt with social inequality and police violence, which drew both strong support and criticism. They faced some legal challenges over their content but kept writing in that vein.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
