Os Undergraundos came out of Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s. Their song "Inocência" from 2003 caught on with a lot of people in Brazil, partly because of Marcelo Camelo's delivery and the way the lyrics seemed to connect. The band had Marcelo Camelo on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Tavares on guitar, Fred Ferreira on bass, and Thiago Camelo on drums.
They put out a few albums, including a live one from Circo Voador in 2004 and a studio album called Samba Esquema Noise in 2006. Their sound pulled from different places, sometimes leaning into punk energy and other times working with samba rhythms. Another track people know is "O Filme Trash."
Camelo was the main songwriter and frontman, and his approach drew some attention, both positive and otherwise. The band had a particular way of operating that didn't always line up with what the music industry expected.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
