Os Verdes were a Brazilian rock band that formed in the early 1980s. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1982, but it was their 1985 record 'Affair Surreal' that really defined them. The title track from that album, 'Affair Surreal,' became their most recognizable song, built around Marcos Valle's vocals and guitar work.
The band's lineup included Marcos Valle on lead vocals and guitar, Paulo Sérgio Valle on bass, Maurício Maestro on drums, and Cláudio Venturini on keyboards. They released several albums throughout the 1980s and into the mid-1990s, including 'Rio Tropical' in 1988 and 'Equilibrium' in 1995. Another track, 'Comportamental,' also appears among their better-known songs.
Their music sometimes drew criticism for being too experimental and straying from traditional Brazilian rhythms, but they maintained a loyal following. They stopped releasing new material after the mid-1990s, but songs like 'Affair Surreal' still get played on Brazilian radio stations from time to time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
