Os Zezeis came together in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1980s. The band had four members: Gringo on vocals, Sergio Bandeira on guitar, Beto F. on drums, and Rafael Calmen on bass. Their sound mixed samba, funk, and pop, with lyrics that sometimes touched on social themes.
In 1983, they had a breakthrough with the song "As Cores do Semáforo," which became a national hit. That same year they released their self-titled debut album, followed by records like "Vamos Abalar" in 1984 and "O Mundo É Nosso" in 1986. Another well-known track of theirs is "Camarão Com Pão Os Zezeis."
They kept recording through the late 1980s, putting out "Brasil Novo" in 1988 and another album called "Zezeis" in 1990. Their music found an audience with its catchy, energetic blend of styles.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
