Archive material and source history
Osahar formed in Brazil in the late 90s with Edgard Scandurra on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Santos on bass, and Marcelo Bonfá on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1998, which included the song "Apesar dos Pesares." That track became their most recognizable work, a straightforward rock anthem about pushing through difficulties.
Their music stayed in that rock vein through subsequent albums like Sorriso de Volta in 1999 and Espiral in 2003. The band recorded an acoustic session for MTV in 2004 and kept putting out records into the 2000s, including Rio in 2006 and Quatro in 2010.
Scandurra, Santos, and Bonfá remained the core trio through those years. Their sound was built around Scandurra's guitar work and direct lyrics, without much stylistic departure from album to album.
