Osfera

Osfera formed in Brittany in 1998. The French collective includes Yann Tiersen, Lionel Liminana, and Christophe Miossec. Their first album, simply called 'Osfera', came out in 2000. They followed it with records like 'Novem' in 2004 and 'Electrum' in 2008.

Their music draws from Breton folk traditions, but they've never been a conventional folk act. They work with Celtic instrumentation alongside ambient textures and electronic elements. The song 'MÉZONA' is probably their best-known piece, a chant-like track that's been used in films and television.

Osfera hasn't toured extensively, and they've maintained a fairly low profile over time. Their sound is more about atmosphere and experimentation than traditional song structures. Other tracks like 'A Construção do Sólido de Revolução' and 'De Dores' show their range within that approach.

They've kept working as a collective rather than pursuing individual fame. The music feels rooted in place but isn't bound by it, creating something that's both familiar and slightly strange.
