Osias Canuto came from Alagoas in northeastern Brazil. In 2019, they set a poem by Manoel Lisboa to music, which became "A Soberana." That song caught on quickly, mixing traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary pop.
Their lyrics sometimes dealt with poverty and inequality, which drew both praise and criticism. Beyond "A Soberana," they recorded songs like "Copacabana Me Engana," "Castigo," and "Chora João." They released a debut album also called A Soberana, followed by others including O Canto da Terra.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
