Osmar e Omar were a Brazilian duo made up of Osmar Zanotti and Omar Volpiani. They started performing in the late 1960s, playing small clubs and building a following with straightforward romantic songs. Their sound was built around simple melodies and direct lyrics about love and relationships.
In 1974, they released "Seu Destino," which became a major hit in Brazil. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, the track became one of their most enduring recordings.
Other songs like "Seremos Felizes," "Amor No Sofá," and "Amargo Pranto" followed a similar pattern, uncomplicated arrangements with lyrics that spoke plainly about romance and heartbreak. They released several albums through the 1970s, including self-titled work in 1973 and "Destino" in 1975, before their activity slowed in later years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
