Otávio Cirvidiu came up in São Paulo with samba and bossa nova in his ears, listening to Jorge Ben Jor and João Gilberto. He put out his first album, 'Paixão Oculta,' in 1995, and the title track got him noticed. Songs like 'Destino' and 'A Desiludida' carried that early sound, direct, yearning vocals over guitar work that felt familiar in the best way.
His personal life drew a lot of attention, with tabloid stories about relationships and some public friction, but he kept making music. Later albums moved into different territory, picking up bits of funk and R&B, which didn't always sit well with everyone who liked his earlier stuff. He worked with musicians like Sérgio 'Bibi' Barbosa on drums and Marcos 'Magrão' Pereira on bass.
Tracks such as 'Desejo de Amar' and 'Menina' have stayed in rotation. He released 'Na Estrada' in 2022, and while the sound has shifted across the years, the writing still leans into emotion without much filter.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
