Out Hud

Out Hud formed in Los Angeles around 2009, built around Sam Flax and Ryan Sawyer. Their sound was hard to pin down, with Flax's vocals and Sawyer's guitar work creating something raw and experimental. They put out an EP called 'A Place of Our Own' early on, followed by an album titled 'The Grand Illusion.'

The lyrics on their records often dealt with dark themes, which some listeners found unsettling. They weren't making music for broad commercial appeal, and their approach stayed fairly uncompromising through those first few releases.

They had another song called 'It's for you' that showed up in their set of work. The band's output was relatively small but distinct, leaving behind those two main recordings and a handful of tracks that defined their brief, specific presence in the LA scene.
