Out to Win

Out to Win formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, a time when grunge was reshaping rock music. The band included vocalist Mikey Jones, guitarist Jimmy Graham, bassist Richie Smith, and drummer Chris Johnson. They started playing in a garage, building a local following through live shows before getting much attention from record labels.

Their debut album 'In a Perfect World' came out in 1994, with the title track becoming their breakthrough song. That record also included 'Out to Win' and 'Persist and Destroy,' songs that defined their straightforward hard rock approach. The album's success brought them wider recognition, though some critics questioned their lyrical content.

As touring increased, the band faced internal strains. Mikey Jones dealt with substance abuse issues, while Jimmy Graham struggled with depression. These personal challenges, along with creative disagreements within the group, created tensions that affected their work together.
