Outbreak formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s as a four-piece metal band. Their debut album 'A.S.' came out in 2004, with the title track becoming a recognizable song in the underground scene. The lineup included Matt Jones on vocals and guitar, Ryan Hanson on bass, and Tom Williams on drums.
They released a second album called 'The Darkest Hour' in 2007, which faced some censorship issues over its lyrics. The band went through some personnel changes over time, with lead guitarist Jake Mitchell joining around 2010. Later albums included 'Rise of the Fallen' in 2012 and 'Unleash the Fury' in 2016.
Their music pulls from thrash and death metal traditions, built around heavy riffs and Jones's vocal style. Songs like 'Braindead' and 'Built To Break' show their approach to aggressive, riff-driven material without much ornamentation.
